Sixteen young members of Holy Name Parish celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time at Holy Name Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 19th.

Six PSR students and ten Holy Name Catholic School students participated.  Father Ken Schuckman of Holy Name and Father John Hotze of St. Michael, Mulvane, celebrated the Sacrament with the youngsters.  Family members were present to pray with and support the students.  The service included a gospel reading, homily, and an examination of conscience. Each child then had time for an individual confession. After praying his/her penance, the child with parents' help lit his/her baptismal candle from the Easter candle.

Following the service all present enjoyed a reception in the parish hall hosted by the Altar Society. The children received their Sacrament certificates from Fr. Ken and the catechists.

Thanks to catechists, Cris Ouano, Gretchen Walker, and Annette Landwehr for their work with the students.

The students now continue their preparation for the reception of their First Holy Communion on May 5.
